Paul and Hether's Alaska Cruise - June 2008Page 1 - Departure, SitkaPage 2 - Hubbard Glacier, JuneauPage 3 - Helicopter to Juneau Ice FieldPage 4 - KetchikanPage 5 - Seaplane to Misty Fiords National Monument, Victoria BC▼ In Ketchikan, we boarded a seaplane for flightseeing tour of the Misty Fjords National Monument. There were bigger turbine powered seaplanes available, but we wanted to experience the classic DeHavilland Beaver.▼ Paul is happy to be in the copilot seat for the flight.▼ Outskirts of Ketchikan below.▼ The Misty Fjords have many shear granite walls, carved by glaciers.▼ Another Beaver from the same charter company flies below us.▼ Our plane landed in one of the fjords and everyone got out onto the seaplane's float.▼ After a few minutes of enjoying the beauty and stillness, we took off again. Waterfalls are everywhere.▼ It's hard to see in the photo, but the dark speck in the middle is a bear. We saw a couple of them from the seaplane.▼ On the way back, we buzzed the Infinity.▼ The last port of call was Victoria, BC. This was a short stay on the last night. We suspect that the real purpose for stopping at Victoria is to comply with the Jones Act.▼ The Victoria Inner Harbor, with the Empress Hotel in the background, is about a 20 minute walk from the ship. We docked back in Seattle early the next morning.I hope you enjoyed our Alaskan cruise photos; come back again.Paul & Hether
